Staverton Hits Key Sustainability Target

We are proud to announce that we have met a key sustainability target we set ourselves for 2019.

Our team is committed to keeping our impact on the environment to a minimum and in 2018 we set ourselves some tough environmental objectives which included reducing the amount of waste we generated as a business. We successfully hit that target by recycling 95% of our generated waste in 2019.

This was achieved by working closely with our waste service provider Footprint to improve the waste streams at our factory, putting more focus on the recycling and segregation of materials and the whole Staverton team working together to achieve this objective.

In 2020 we’re continuing to aim high and working towards reducing our environmental impact still further.

Staverton Celebrates Its 88th Anniversary

The brand has reached a significant milestone this year, celebrating a long history of business in the UK.

Staverton is delighted to announce its 88th year anniversary in the business of designing and manufacturing high-quality office furniture; a long history of successfully meeting and exceeding its clients’ expectations.

We have a strong heritage, and throughout the years the brand has achieved many unique and significant breakthroughs. Staverton Builders Limited was founded in 1928 when a skilled team of craftsmen restored the 14th century medieval hall at Dartington in South Devon. Large contracts for the Ministry of Defence were undertaken in the 1940s during the Second World War, major works in the Middle East were secured by the 1960s, and later on the company manufactured furniture ranges for the Crown Court Buildings and supplied solutions to prestigious world-class hotels.

In time, Staverton established itself as an award-winning UK manufacturer of office furniture with significant recognition within the architect and design community and amongst many companies and corporations. Over the last decade we secured the FIRA Gold Award, won a Design Prima’s Product Design Award, and received a Design Guild Mark from the Furniture Makers Company.

We have built our name by continuing to evolve existing products, but also by staying ahead of the industry with innovative new designs. To begin our anniversary celebration, we proudly announce the launch of the highly functional Staverton 88 range, a new furniture system which includes attractive desk, bench and table solutions. 88 with its tapered solid oak legs and optional novel solid oak ‘plank’ toolbars, is a range which echoes Staverton’s woodworking history and resonates in harmony with our heritage.

Staverton Ltd takes majority ownership

The directors of Staverton (UK) Ltd have taken majority ownership of the business, buying-out managing director Mike Gardner and Claremont Group Interiors’ shareholders.

The buy-out brings more independence to the business and sees Paul Edward, a director of the business for more than 20 years; take the helm as managing director.

Staverton is now able to pursue additional external dealer relationships and particular emphasis will be placed on building its growing reputation as a designer and manufacturer of high-end office furniture solutions.

Paul Edward said: “Staverton has started a targeted programme of building partnerships with a select number of top furniture distributors and interiors companies, spread throughout the UK.  Our vision is to provide those companies the opportunity to work with a design led UK manufacturer that has a great track record creating client specific solutions.

“Our most recent product developments have been designed in response to the growing demand for Sit Stand working. We now have a future-proof bench, which offers various levels of upgrades from fixed-height through to fully programme powered and a mobile option, which gives clients the utmost in flexible working.

“The directors of Staverton would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Mike for his leadership of the business over the past six years as the business now has a strong foundation on which to move forward.”

The deal includes use of an Enterprise Management Incentive (EMI) scheme so that share options can be offered to Staverton directors and management in the future.

New showroom for British designer Staverton

British designer and manufacturer of office furniture Staverton UK Ltd will unlock the doors to its new showroom during Clerkenwell Design Week.

Staverton has occupied the second floor space at 70 St John Street for the last three years and has now moved to the first and ground floors, doubling the square footage and providing a shop window for the business.

The ground floor has been turned into a minimalist workshop style showroom and the first floor will provide working office space for Staverton’s London design and sales team.

Paul Edward sales director for Staverton UK Ltd said: “When Sea Design who occupied the space previously said their team was moving, we jumped at the chance to expand our space, keep our address and importantly gain a presence at street level for the first time.

“This will make us a much more visible part of the Clerkenwell community and really showcases our product range and design expertise too.”

Staverton will launch its new Sit Stand desk, Staverton SOS, at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week from 19th to 21st May 2015.

Staverton Installation Complete at Auto Trader London

Staverton’s latest installation is complete – with Staverton CL desking featuring throughout Auto Trader’s new London home at St Pancras North.

The 14,000 sq ft office was handed over by interior designers Claremont Group Interiors last month and featues 120 Staverton CL desks for AutoTrader’s HR, design, marketing, product development and finance teams

This project follows Staverton’s installation of more than 500 desks in Auto Trader’s Manchester head office in the summer.

Staverton Confirms Clerkenwell Design Week 2014

The Staverton team has announced it will take part in Clerkenwell Design Week 2014.

Based at 70 St John Street, Staverton will use the show to extend its links with the A&D community and introduce its new improved showroom.

Paul Edward, director of Staverton said: “2014 promises to see some new product launches and a new and improved showroom so it seemed particularly pertinent to get involved with such a key calendar event.

“We’ve taken part in CDW several times over the years and love how it celebrates great design and brings the whole industry together.  We’re looking forward to being involved.”

Staverton Installed at Auto Trader in Manchester

The installation of more than 600 Staverton CL desks at Auto Trader’s new Manchester head office is now complete.

Auto Trader started moving into the space in July and now has all staff in situ. The new 60,000 sq ft office in Manchester’s First Street development replaces AutoTrader’s seven smaller regional offices .

Described as an ‘inspirational playground’ by Claremont Group Interiors, the interior designers on the project,  the office is certainly memorable.  Car meeting rooms, media walls, a skateboarding full pipe, an Audi Quattro and a ski-lodge are just some of its stand-out features.

Paul Edward said: “We spent a lot of time really understanding what Auto Trader wanted and felt that with some modifications to the CL bench, which was developed for The Co-operative Group, we could hit their brief perfectly.

“Bench desking supports Auto Trader’s collaborative working style and the integrated data and power makes it much easier for employees, avoiding the need to scramble about on the floor looking for power points, not to mention for the FM and IT teams too. We’re delighted to be working with such as successful British business and it’s a landmark project for us.  It’s fabulous to see the finished office.“

Staverton CL offers a range of benefits to users, namely large working spaces, as well as to Auto Trader’s facilities management and IT teams.  The bench desk removes the need for specialist electrical installation as all power issues are dealt with above the floor. A leg-mounted PDU delivers power for up to ten desks and a simple ‘plug in’ design, promotes easy installation and greater flexibility.   Sliding tops, vertical risers, and hinged containment trays allow service teams to maintain a safe yet accessible power distribution system. CL is individually height settable, achieved through the use of stackable spacers.
